Post-playtest updates!


This release-ready version of the game incorporates a variety of improvements. HUGE thanks to playtesters Arthurianmaiden, John Ayliff, Max Lich, John R., and Una for their time and feedback!

(Minor spoilers below!)

  • Players can now customize their character's species (human, half-elf, elf, or halfing) in the prologue. References to their species background (if relevant) have also been added to the narrative.
  • If the player invites Jade and Jasper to join them during the prologue, the companions will now be fully incorporated into the druid scene on day one (and may be consulted for advice during the quiz).
  • If the druid rewards the player on day one, she now uses more precise language to explain exactly when/how her advice may help the player. Additionally, opportunities have been added for the player to unsuccessfully attempt to use this tip during encounters throughout the game.
  • Added clarification for why Rowan had initially escaped notice when the player first encounters him.
  • Added an illustration representing the sound of the invisible forest pixies' voices on day five.
  • Added an alternative dialogue option for the player to begin the riddle game on day five.
  • Restructured a scene on day six so that, if the player had received the druid's tip on day one, they have the opportunity to use the tip immediately (instead of being required to find a companion first).
  • Added a paragraph to a scene on day seven to emphasize that the player taking their eyes off the ground, for even a moment, may come at the cost of losing their balance.
  • If the player ends their game in a romantic relationship, they will now have a brief unique interaction with their love interest's traveling companion.
  • A variety of minor copy edits and small refinements to the text throughout.
  • Minor improvements to the Javascript web app that runs the game.
